cargo liner ?, gas guage problem

Hi all:

This is my first post as I just bought a used '97 blazer. Well, I have two questions if you don't mind:

1.) Do any of you guys have cargo liners for your blazers ('97 in particular) that really fit well and look nice? Any pictures I can view online? There is a big ugly paint spill in the cargo area, that I would like to "cover up."

1'.) Also, how good are the websites that say their cargo liners/mats are "custom fitted?"

2.) My gas guage does not work. When I fill up, it goes to the F mark, but it will never show below 3/4 full. Anyone know how much this might cost to fix? Note: my range display will decrease as it should, but when I restart it jumps up quite a bit sometimes.

2.') If the gas guage problem (sensor?) is fixed, will the top console (range) work properly?

I purchased a Husky cargo liner for my '04 Blazer from Ebay. The seller was bonesenterprises. I checked Ebay and this seller currently does not have any listed, but there were some listed by other sellers. I paid $31.00 plus shipping. These usually sell for around $75.00 in stores and online. Fits great and has tall sides to catch dirt and any spills.

which looks nice, but I'm not sure how durable it would be.

Are these cargo liners really made to custom fit the vehicle? Also, stupid question but I'm guessing that the 4wd and rwd blazers are completely identical with respect to the interior/cargo area? I don't want to get a liner for the 4wd when it will not fit the rwd.

Another option is to hit a boneyard and pull the cargo carpet piece... They are all the same from 95 to current,; so if you get one from a 2000+ that's in good condition it will be fine.,.. Better than an ugly cargo liner in my opinion

Fuel tank level sensor only available from GM parts dealers,
p/n 25314231, about $120.oo at most dealers , $72.00 at GMPARTSDIRECT.com

The tank has to be dropped and fuel pump removed, about a 2 hour job labor wise, so add in the going labor rates (~$70.00 to $100.00/hr)

A local mechanic, and even some dealers, will try to scam the whole fuel pump assembly on you, which ranges in price from $300.00 at Autozone to well over $450.00 at a Chevy dealer for the pump alone.

I chose the husky because of the high sides, durability, and the good deal I found on it. We use our Blazer to go to the Outer Banks of North Carolina where you can drive on some of the beaches and the high sides help keep the sand and water from coolers and ice contained. My interior is gray so it dosen't look too bad. I do like the looks of the others. The Husky fits very well. One drawback is when the rear seats are folded down, the lip on the rear of the liner is sticking up but it is very flexible and will lay down if something is put on top of it. I believe the 4WD and RWD are the same. There is a difference between the two and four door models.

Well, to be honest I won't be doing any off-road driving and my main concern is something that looks nice. That said, I believe I will be ordering the catch-all set (front/middle/cargo).

Again, any of you blazer drivers use this brand. If so, are they actually really molded specifically to fit the blazer?

Also, who are some reputable online stores to order from - preferably good service/prices?

Hey, are you guys sure that all I need is the part with number: 25314231 from GMPARTSDIRECT.com? Could it possibly be anything else, or is this pretty much a guarantee fix?

Nothing is gauranteed. I've read in a previous post someone purchased a new fuel pump,and after a week or two, the fuel gauge problem returned.

I just ordered the fuel level sensor kit from GMPARTSDIRECT on the 3rd of Feb. It's special ordered, so I won't receive if for about another week or two. I'll post a reply after I get it and install it, hopefully by the 19th of Feb.

BTW, GMPARTSDIRECT has a "no return" policy on "special order" parts, so I'm taking a chance on the $72.00 part ($77.00 if you live in NC-taxes).

So, there are still only two possibilities though, correct? Either the fuel pump, or the fuel sensor, or both?

Is the 25314231 part specifically for the '97 blazer or any of the 95 - present blazers?

The problem is the level sensor only that is attached to the fuel pump. You can only get the level sensor kit from a GM parts supplier. If you go to an Autozone,O'Riellys,Pep Boys, etc, you'll have to buy the complete fuel pump assembly.

When I ordered the part, it said for '97 to 2001' Blazers. But doing a search at other auto parts suppliers, the fuel pump assembly is only used on '97 thru '99 models.

If the Blazer has some mileage on it, wouldn't hurt to replace the whole assembly. Those model years are noted for pump failures, notice it getting hard to start when cold and gets worse from there. Considering the work involved you'd be ahead to get the pump assy now. Shop around for best price for sure.
