My friend has a '97 Taurus with 3.0 SOHC engine. Takes a while to fire if the car has sat for an hour or more, but runs fine after it starts. I usually think fuel pressure regulator in that instance, but I have also heard that regulators are rare to go bad on tauruses, but that it's usual for a fuel pump to go. Advice would be appreciated.

Re: Fuel Pressure Regulator or Fuel Pump?
first of all, there was on SOHC taurus, only DOHC and OHV pushrod.
Secondly, why are you so sure its a fuel pressure problem? Have you looked at the injectors and spark plugs? How many miles does this car have on it? Have the injectors or spark plugs ever been serviced?

Sry, I mis spoke, I meant the OHV pushrod. And the plugs and wires were replaced yes than a year ago. Car has approximately 70,000 miles.
