well,i spoke too soon, replaceing the ECTS seemed to work for a month but the winter temps have been in the 30's f and it never would really act up that cold anyway,but its become warmer and I have been noticing it again.
There must be a sensor measuring ambient temps, and going defective making the car think it needs to warm up. Any more suggestions?

did you reset the PCM memory when you changed the ECT?

next, remove the intake tubing and inspect the throttle body and IAC for carbon build-up, clean with carb and choke cleaner if nessaciry.

Didn't see your origional post/problem...but...

-Check your Intake air temp (IAT) sensor then.
It reads temp of the air coming into the engine (ambient temp of outside air) and adjusts your fuel to air ratio; because cold air expands more when combusted. (the point of cold air intake)

-Your throttle body being dirty can also change your f/a ratio

-your car may run rich at idle because the throttle plate has carbon build ups preventing air from barely creepin through when the plate is "closed"

-yeah make sure you reset the PCM after changing, adjusting, or cleaning sensors. Or anything that changes how your car will run for that matter.

-To reset the PCM from my understanding unplug your negative battery cable for about 10 minutes, then plug it back in and let your car idle in place for about 10 minutes.

-Sorry to say, I do believe that a vaccum leak can cause serious problems especially at idle speeds (been there), get a piece of tubing (like aquarium tubing or whatever is handy) and use it as a stethescope (Dr. listens to your heart/breathing with) carefully move it along your seals for gaskets and vaccum line connections and listen at the other end for a kinda sucking sound => if you find it you may be able to do a simple fix like duct tape to temporarily seal the leak and re-evaluate your problems

-Or another recommended method is to spray choke carb cleaner at these seals to see if your engine bogs down from these chemicals seeping in, but I think you run to much of a risk of deteriorating gaskets and ANYTHING else rubber or organic not to mention that bogging down your engine is no good to begin with
