The return of Hard Starting

After another bout of difficult starting, I have narrowed it down to the notorious Fuel Pump Relay. I even talked to a shop that specializes in automotive electrical issues and he agreed, stating that late 80s Fords have always had dodgy fuel pump relays. In the 4 relay cluster bolted to the drivers side fender, which one is the fuel pump relay? There are two relays that have the same pin pattern. Rather than take the chance of screwing up the EEC, which is the other relay that matches the fuel pump relay, I would rather just hook it up to the right one. This is a concern because when I went to price relays, the fuel relay was $17, and the eec relay was $50. That is bollocks in my mind considering they seem to be the same relay. Must be different amperage values or some crap. The current solution to getting it running when it acts up is a good sharp smack to the relay cluster, followed by a rapid clicking from the cluster, then it works. It runs and starts with no problems for days on end, then it will act up. It has even stalled once. Thanx for any help...

I went ahead and bought the EEC relay ($12)and the Fuel Pump relay ($23), and replaced them both. I still do not know which is which, so I guessed. All I know is the continuous amperage rating is different between the two. I took a guess that the relay that stands alone is the EEC and the relay that is in with the cluster is the fuel pump. It works, but my concern is if I do have them backwards, the relay with lesser amperage value would be damaged eventually. I told my ma to limit her driving until I find out for sure.
