whats better, a LT1, LS1, 350 HO or 383

which one would be the best bang for the buck. i want lots of power and it to be quick. i also would like one with the easiest mods to make, and if it will fit in a 91 rs camaro.

I would go with a 350 TPI or LT1 cause the LS1 will cost you your first born but just check out www.car-parts.com or Ebay. I am sure you will be able to find something. Don't forget about tranny and PCM.

Both are great power to cost engine but I would try to find a donor car cause your probably going to be needing quite a few parts off the car. Infact tho. Depending what area your in I know lotus is selling his car that was in a accident for 2K and its the complete car. He located in CT though. Its a LT1 with a 6 speed I think may have a auto

An easier route, and easier to mod, would be a 350 with an Lt1 intake running off the TPI harness and ECM. This would get you the best of both worlds, the desireable LT1 intake system and the easy to program ECM/chips. I work with a guy that sells the LT1 intakes already modded for use on the standard 350 engine, he also sells the complete set up for installing it.
His web site is here: http://lt1intake.com/services.htm

Re: whats better, a LT1, LS1, 350 HO or 383

i figured this one would spark more of a debate. in terms of sheer efficiency and power potential: the LS1 cant be beat. im sorry LT1 guys but you have to face facts, the LS1 is the greatest SB development prolly ever. in terms of cost to build up and other more real world factors prolly the LT1...

Was that a joke at the LT1 & TPI guys expense and I just missed it?. Well I will respond regardless. LS1 is the N/A king. It can make the most power with the smallest investment. Having said this the cost of getting a LS1 Vs getting a LT1 or TPI powertrain or better yet getting it to fit correctly in a 3rd Gen Vs the performance difference you will find that the LS1 just isn't a wise choice and if later on he decides he wants to add a power adder the LS1 is much more PSI limited than either of the 2 options but this is just my , Take it as you will.

Re: whats better, a LT1, LS1, 350 HO or 383

Im gonna go ahead and choose the lesser traveled path Take your 350TPI and stroke it to a 383.. With the right parts, and you doing the work, it should cost less than the LT1 swap, be less work, and make more power

That would be badass. I always see carb'd 383's, and injected 350 TPI's(obviously, its TPI), but I have never seen a 383 with TPI. It should be fairly inexpensive, and fairly unique...now I want one!
