95 escort worth a look?
A friend of mine obtained a 95 escort with a cracked head. He replaced the head and he's looking to sell. He says the car only has 29,000 miles on it. I've heard that damaged heads are a common problem with these cars. My ? is - is the car worth buying (around $2400) and how many miles should I expect to get out of it? I'm looking for a goto work ride thats good on gas(50 miles one way). Thanks for any info I can get.

Re: 95 escort worth a look?
where i live, $2,400 is about what the average "pot lot" dealer with the "easy financing" and super high interest would sell it for. So maybe a bit pricey from a private party. Ultimately, if it's worth it to you, it's worth it. Ive heard that the valve seats can be problematic but I drive two fairly high mile escorts (91 lx and a 94 pony) and I've never had any head problems.

Re: 95 escort worth a look?
I bought a 1996 with 47k miles for $2500.If it has only $25k and is in good condition I think it would be worth the money.I had a 1993 that I recently gave my daughter with almost 300k miles.I did have to have a valve seat replaced but that was at about 220k miles. My husband has a 1998 with almost 400k miles on it.He had the engine replaced at about 300k.So I believe that these are great little cars and good on gas.
