Pics of my project.
OK, here are pics of my project. A piece of garbage you think? Well, I am excited. It will give me something to do. The interior needs some work too. That silver paint has got to go. It will take me a bit to take that apart and clean it off. The back hatch needs a few dents fixed, and that TypeR needs to come off. The paint on the taillights doesnt appeal to me either. Overall, I am excited. Here is a list of what has been done to it so allready. 1.6 sohc with high comp pistons out of japanese model, ported head, AEM intake, Kamikaze drag header (dented, but I took the pics to a shop, and they may be able to spread them out), Paxton fuel pressure regulator, NGK plugs and wires and 2.25 all the way back to TRP race muffler and DTM tips. The tranny was rebuilt, with the final drive gears from a ZC trany put in. All engine and tranny work was done about 25k miles ago, so it is still fairly fresh. The ECU was remapped, with the rev limiter raised, and the speed limiter removed. The car was painted about 8 months ago and it has a WW RS body kit (needs front, obviously). The interior is silver and black and is in good shape with indiglo gauges. The suspension is Tenzo-R 2.75 drop with Gabriel struts that were revalved for a softer ride. The car has 16x7.5 rims (Modified VST) with 205/40/16 with only about 4,000 miles on them. Well that is the car in a nut shell. My plans for right now are to get the front end fixed, and up and running. At the same time, I may swap in a ZC for now. Eventually I would like to drop a B16 in there. But, we will see.

The previous owner was quite the busy little bee, huh? Too bad his tastes came from an Uncle Ben's box.
![]() Is that damage from a collision or a fire/explosion, or what? Are you going to make it a hoped-up street car, or a full-out racer? |

They did like rice
the wreck was the result of a civic, meet ford truck relationship gone bad. The owner took all the excess unusable stuff off. hat you see here, is what he left.

Looks you you have a bit of work ahead of you. Send some pics as you go to show us how you are getting on with it.
You got some good engine stuff there to make it hummm along when finshed Is most of it just front damage or did it tweak some of the other panels to ?

Why would you go for a ZC? You've already got a partially built NA motor to work with. Larry Widmer actually likes the D16 single cam engines better than the twin-cam B series (though he is one of the few who would take a D series engine over ANY B series motors - I for one would take a B series without hesitation)., so you have potential with that engine. I'd keep it, and work with it more, or else just scrap it and get a B16. I wouldn't bother with the mid-step of a ZC. Save more to work with the very versatile B16.
That should be a quite a project, it's got potential up the wazoo..... |

Well, I would go straight with a B series motor right off the bat, but, i just bought a new motor, shocks, and springs for my G20. After buying this civic, I am getting low on money. I want to get it looking nice first, then work on the motor. The reason I say maybe get a ZC for now, is they are cheap, and easy to swap. I would have to no other modifications that would need to be done to fit the motor in. Its just a pull, swap, and plug in, kind of job. As for the earlier question about what i want out of it. I just want a nice looking, fast, daily driver.

So your baby is naturally your G20, yes? If the Civic is to be your "beater," and your G20 is your weekend/racer/showcar, I'd then either keep your D series or get the ZC. I see where you're coming from now.
I will say though, for my money, I'd get your Civic looking all right and running, and I'd stop right there. I'd just put money into routine maintenance, and that's about it. Unless your funding can really support modding two cars. Besides, having a slow daily driver makes it that much more fun to jump into your "other" car (I know - I've got a fairly heavily modded GS-R for my weekend warrior, and my daily driver is a 1985 Mercury Maquis, the total opposite: it makes a lot of torque, but is generally slow, heavy, etc. Getting into my Acura after driving the Merc is a divine experience). But hey, that's just me. |
