I have a 95 GC, My jeep is shaking at or oround 55 mph at first I thought unbalanced tires so I had the tires balanced and rotated still shakes at 55mph I also checked for play in ball joins no play at all. A few days ago my tranny started slipping from 2 into 3rd. I heard the shaking could be caused by a bad rear engine mount, and I was wondering if the shaking and the tranny problems are the same thing or if they are different problems all together?

A bad shaking problem can cause havic with every thing in the drive live and susspension. The way to check the rear mount is to jack up the Jeep and check the condition of the mount. Does it shake all the time at 55 or just when you hit a bump. If it is when you hit a bump you might want to check the steering stablizer. About the Trans slipping I doubt if it is related, could be a bad valve body ,pump failure, bands and cluthes. Trans fluid and filter change solve a lot of problems.
