Turns over but won't start
Hello, thanks in advance for any help. I have a 2000 durango, the turn signals had been acting up and they finally quit. Changed out the relay near the emergency brake and all was well. The problem is now it won't crank, it'll turn over great but not start. Don't know if the turn signal repair had anything to do with it or not. However, the wife did come in that night and said the the durango had acted strange, like it cut off or lost power for a couple of seconds. Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated. If it was for this forum I wouldn't have know about the hidden relay on the turn signal.

Turns
Could be fault in fuel inj. system, fuel filter plugged, battery discharged, no gas, battery terminals loose or corroded, Fuel pump, ignitions sys. problems such as moisture or damage, spark plugs, starting circuite wiring (I would take a look at that one) especially at the wiring around the area you did your fix.

Re: Turns over but won't start
My '99 did the same Friday morning, would not start after it ran just fine Thur. night. I can't figure it out either but it's really too cold and wet here in AL to do much with it right now. I had made no repairs but it has had a bad output speed sensor for over a year. It would just hesitate in shifting once in a while but seemed to get better gas mileage with it broke. Mine is the 5.9 and I had installed a Jacobs ignition and K&N filter about 4 years ago. I could use a few ideas to look for too.
Got it fixed since we had a pretty enough day Sunday to tinker with it. Mine had a short in either the coil or the control box for the Jacobs ignition system. Hooked it back up to the factory coil and it fired up and runs just fine. Last edited by Smoke24; 02-07-2005 at 10:55 AM. |
