Pulleys

I was going to put AEM pulleys and underdrive pulley on my 97 civic ex i was wondering how hard they are to get off. The little ones dont look bad but i cant even really see the underdrive pulley.

Re: Pulleys

Underdrive pulley? Correct me if I'm wrong, but they call light weight pulleys underdrive pulleys cause that is what they do. The lighter weight lets the pulley spin just as fast with less force. You don't have a pulley that is called an underdrive pulley.

You have a crank pulley, power steering pulley, alt pulley and A/C pulley. So which one are you talking about?

BTW: replacing the crank pulley is a bad idea. The crank pulley has an integrated vibration damper/harmonic balancer. If you get rid of this your engine will do bad things like spin crankshaft bearings.

Re: Pulleys

i personally believe underdrive pulleys are a waste of money.

i also believe the only time you should change a crank pulley is if you were SCed to increase boost.

Re: Pulleys

not at all. Just don't replace your crank or alt pulley. The drag that the alt pulley's weight creates helps get that sucker spinning. I've witnessed a weaker electrical system due to a lightened alt pulley.
