Question 01 malibu aftermarket stereo

my cousin has an 01 malibu, and I have taken a look at the stock head unit. Very confusing. I have installed alot of car stereos before, and I have never seen anything like this at all. Has anyone ever installed an aftermarket head unit in a malibu before, and if so HOW?

please be very specific, and mention even the smallest details. (if it's possible) thanx

for my install (2001 malibu) i bought an adapter so i could hook into the stock wiring harness. the only problem i had was that the wire on the adapter for the switched 12V ignition lead did not match up with the stock one so i had to find a different sorce to power the cd player. i'm not sure why it did not match up but it will not work untill you find a new switched power sorce.
