Engine Swap
Should be an easy swap. Probably just need new motor mounts and engine peripherals like mounting brackets, distributor etc. And probably need a C4 tranny as well. Can find them on ebay for a decent price. Check : www.mustangsunlimited.com for the stuff you'll need. Should probably find most of the stuff in junk yards as well. Lots of mustang stuff sitting around unused in peoples yards etc. Just look around and you should be able to find everything you need. Go with a 302 if you cant find a 289. I know a 302 would fit nicely in a 68 mustang. It fits nice in my 1968 Cougar. Got anymore questions just drop a line here. Steve

The 289 will fit easily. You'll need a radiator, motor mounts and, of course, all the accessories. As for the C4 (I think that's what you have), you can just change out the bell housing as it's separate from the trans case. You'll also need the 289 flex plate and converter.
