Question Auto transmission slow to engage

I have a 94 Metro with an automatic transmission. When I put the car into drive or reverse after it has sat all night the car basically won't move for a second. When it begins to move I can press on the gas but it does not affect how fast I go. This lasts for about 5 seconds, after engaging the transmission when I have a cold start. This never happens if the car is already warm. Is my transmission beginning to fail?

Thanks

No, let the poor thing warm up. It means the oil isn't flowing in the transmission. It's hard to pump oil that is 10 degrees. Your engine feels the same way. So yea, let it warm up, or both your engine, and your trans will fail you VERY soon. The very worst thing for a car is to run it bone-cold.
