Angry EGR Valve Options ???

I'm still driving a 95 Saturn SL1 Sedan. It was only a year ago, that I had a brand new EGR Valve put in,and everything worked fine, UNTIL just the other day, when the usual check engine service light lit up, engine revs up on idle...and then DIES right in the middle of traffic. Of course I'm gonna have it de-carborized, but I know I'll have to do again in another month or so. Consequently, I'm just curious if anyone has tried anything different or new, or pehaps even 'bypassed' it completely, cuz this little sucker valve is giving me ONE BIG HEADACHE

Re: EGR Valve Options ???

you could install a block-off plate, but i wouldn't recommend it. if you did the SES light would be always on, and you could burn the exhaust valves

Re: EGR Valve Options ???

I just thought that maybe if you keep the electrical connections intact to the vacuum
pod, then the signal to open and close will be there, and the computer will
be happy. Disconnecting the vacuum lines and bypassing is all that
needs to be done...... I think, but at this point I'm desperate to try just about anything.
