Cold weather plug in for my diesel

I just recently purchased my 1997 diesel 2500 dodge truck. When it gets cold, it struggles to start (I know it's normal). I thought that I had seen a cord on the truck to plug it in to the A/C at home to keep it warm at night but now I can't find it.

Was I dreaming? Where should the cord be found if it is there?

Thanks,
Ken

Coming from the side of the block someplace. It's gotta be around under the hood somewhere if it's there.

Re: Cold weather plug in for my diesel

Most of the block heater cords on these trucks are hidden behind the front bumper, on the right side of the truck, near the rad support / bumper bracket area. If all goes well, that is where you will find yours.

That is stock location, if the previous owner decided to move it, it could be just about anywhere.

Also, depending on how cold it is, I have an 01, that starts fine down to -25C without being plugged in. I prefer to start plugging in below -15 though, makes it a little easier. I use synthetic 0w40 grade oil in winter as well, to make the starting easier yet.

Enjoy the truck
