Question Self adjusting shocks

I have a Mazda MPV 1992 4wd 3.0 V6 engine, with rear self adjusting ( air) shocks. I think I need to replace them and here is where I need your help: I would like to buy the original ones or something like the original ones, do you know where can I get them? can they be fix? The other question is if I can not replace them with the originals, do you know what shocks can I use instead? what do I do with the air lines and the compresor once they are disconected?
Also, I need to replace both shocks and bearing caps on the front, what parts should I replace whith the shock and where can I get them at a good price.
Thanks a lot for your help.

Re: Self adjusting shocks

I've got the airshocks on my 91 also. Dealership would be the only place I'd think that you could get replacement bags.

Unhappy self adjusting shocks

Hi, I have 1997 Mazda MPV and my compressor leaks. I think I will have to buy a new one. Any idea about the price or maybe I should install normal shocks and forget about fixing. Dealer gave the quote for new shocks. Listen to this: one shock (self-adjusting) = $450 Cdn!!!!
Can't believe it.

Re: Self adjusting shocks

I have a 96 MPV and my Self Leveling shocks went bad. They were leaking for awhile and then completely failed. You can't get them anywhere. I searched all over the internet and repair shops. The only place you might get lucky is at a junk yard. I found one in FLA. I'm still waiting for my shocks to see what condition they are in. It was my only recourse besides the dealer. It's a Mazda ripoff. They don't even make a replacement kit for it so you can put on regular shocks.

I also have a 97 mazda mpv and the self leveling shocks don't work. The fuse for the system keeps blowing, I am guessing I probably need a new compressor. Anyway, the solution I am going to try is to get a set of coil springs from an MPV without the load leveling system from a junk yard and put in regular shocks.
