1993 Pontiac GA GT Transmission
I have a automatic transmission problem that developed on the way to work this morning. I noticed that the tranmission would not shift from second to third gear. I dropped the shifter manualy to second and back to third and it shifted. I went to pass another vechicle and kicked in the passing gear and the transmission would not whift to third gear no matter what i did. I did pull over and check the fluid levels. Everything looked fine. Could anyone offer some advise. Thanks

before changing or checking the tranny it almost sounds like a catalytic converter problem. Have that checked first!

That is untrue..... though this post is old I had to answer. The 93 GA with a 3300 can have a 4 speed very easy actually. Parts needed 440T4/4T60 from a 3.1L (w/3.33:1 fr) Drive axles from the 94 GA with 4spd (for your abs) Mounts from a 94-up N body 33 tooth driver gear from Lumina 3.4L DOHC 37 tooth driver gear from Lumina 3.4L DOHC Console/shifter/cable from 94-up achieva with 4spd a few adjustments to the mounts and that basically it. |
