not starting

I have a Dodge ramcharger 4wd 318 cid. The truck will not start, it has been at times running like it is misfiring only at idle. Sometimes it will die and i will have to hold down the accelerator a little to get it started again , but if i let off the gas it will die. The engine when you go to turn it off it diesels. Now it wont start at all. I Bought the car from a friend and he replaced the carb. with an older style, so i just replaced the distributor and ign. coil. It had a tune up this past summer. Can someone help me?

Re: not starting

Sounds like it's been flooding and now the spark plugs are gasoline fouled. Try new spark plugs & get the choke set so it'll quit flooding the motor. This will require a real carburetor expert if you want to solve your problem...check with your local raceshop for a good carb. man.
