grinds, its basically a new motor..." so, tell me what you guys think. is this a good swap to do? |

it's alright...the b16a head will lower compression....you should sell it and get a b18c1 head with a Skunk2 Intake Manifold...the lower the compression, the less power

If its basicly a new motor then why does it have a B16a head on it?
What did he do to it that required the replacement of the head? It sounds like someones trashed it and wants to get rid of it before it dies. As I said before forget about it. If you want to have a hybrid engine then build your own, dont buy someone else's screw up.

Well, as per my other response, you wouldn't catch me spending the money and putting it in a car I own. Have you asked why he's selling it?
Seriously. Hybrid engines like that unless proven aren't worth the scrap metal they will become. |

b16 head
b18c1 block + b16a3 head = poor mans b18c5(type r)
The type r teg engine is basically a gsr block with a dohc vtec civic head, the only major differance is that the type r head has a very mild port and polish. If you are looking for a type r engine i would suggest buying a gsr engine, dropping it in and then with the money you saved on the type r engine buy a b16a3 head get a a real port and polish save up more for cams, titanium springs and retainers, pistons, rods, etc. You will have a fast hybrid and you can allways add the other stuff later if you want. DO NOT BUY AN ENGINE UNLESS YOU CAN TEAR IT DOWN AND CHECK OUT THE INTERNALS BEFORE BUYING!!! I would only buy one without inspection from reputable shops like Import Auto Salvage or Hasport. CHEAP IS DEFINATELY NOT ALWAYS BETTER. Peace, |
