88 Camry Transmission Oil Capacity

Hi,
Just replaced the rear main seal on the car. While the transmission was off, I poured the old trans oil out from the torque converter and put back about .5 quarter new fluid in (I think you can call this some kind of manual trans flush). After putting the car back to one piece, I poured about 1.7 qts new fluid from the stick tube.

For the first 5 minutes the car run great but then it began to slip. I pour another one qt in, it run much better. Since it's kind of difficult to read the oil level from the stick, I just wonder, since I virtually emptied the transmission, if anyone knows what's the total capacity of the tranny for the oil.

Don't guess - read the dipstick with the engine idling after you have run slowly through all the gears and in Park.
