Heater Motor Stops - recovers when car dry

This past weekend I had the heater motor in my 2000 Intrigue fail - no fan - no heat. 3 days later after warming the car with an electric heater and fan for an hour it started working again. Is this likely to happen again I wonder. I hate getting electronic problems checked when they are working as they seldom find a problem then. Except for, maybe, replacing a fuse, I am not handy myself. Any suggestions as to what needs to be checked to avoid a recurrence in a bad location in the dead of winter.
