Automotive Designe Freehand Vs. Computer

So im doing a report on automotive design and which one is better. Obviously Computer but even today i know that designers still use pencil and paper to start their designs, is this part of the process and transfer their work to a computer, or will they juss take the drawings to engineers and clay modelers. I realize this is probably the wrong place for this thread, so if it is please relocate it. Also please if any one who has had the experience of being involved in a designers room or has concrete detail on this topic please e-mail @ [email protected] with your experience this would be greatly appreciated, not only is this a report for school but it is also my goal to become an automotive designer.
