Re: LIKE new engine

rebuild once it dies
inevitably hp mods will lower the life of ur engine
u can use high mileage synthetic oil
replace ur gaskets, injectors, sparkplugs, etc.

Re: LIKE new engine

the easiest way to extend the life of any engine is to give it regular maintenence and then be nice to it.

Re: LIKE new engine

it does make perfect sense that i shortens life, just think about it. it add more air into your engine so therefore you get a more powerful combustion which is doing more wear so it wears out faster

Re: LIKE new engine

plus most, MOST, people who do mods, will generally run their cars harder, i.e. shortening the life of the engine.
people who make vtec lights are a good example. most people who drive a honda normally dont even know what vtec is, i.e. my parents lol

Re: LIKE new engine

boosted somewere at 23,000 miles. im at 119,000. compression and leak down shows no problems. i dont beat my car and do all the required maintenence on schedule.

Re: LIKE new engine

Like everyone else has said, keep the maintenance up. Learn your car and know your limits as to its handling and roughness. Have you thought about selling it?

If you do, get a nother 4dr.

Yes, I'm a biased 4dr integra owner. =P

Re: LIKE new engine

Updated maint...

Change fluids according to schedule. If you really abuse the engine then change the fluids sooner then usual.
