my clutch...finally out! pics are here.
yep...finally got the clutch out, figured out the problem i was having, and now i'm waiting to get an ACT 2600. this was my Centerforce Dual Friction with about 12,000 miles on it and about 6 - 7months old. as you can see, the t/o bearing is fucked, the pressure plate is scored, and the clutch disc is purple
![]() anyone know where i can find an ACT 2600 (hell, even a 2100) for a really good price? i tried e-bay, they're like $400

I got real luck, my 2600 was on the motor I bought for $350.

Re: my clutch...finally out! pics are here.
ok guys, i'm real short on cash and found a really cheap clutch at Summit....the only thing is, it's a RAM clutch...i don't know how these things perform at all...the kit includes clutch disc, pressure plate, t/o bearing and alignment tool for $159.99...does ANYONE in here know anything about RAM clutches and how they are on our cars?
thanks |

Re: my clutch...finally out! pics are here.
Look into SBR's new clutch kits. I've heard some good things about them. Also, it might be worth looking into Southbend Racing clutches. After all the shit I've read about the ACT2600's, I've decided to go elsewhere with my clutch purchase.

Re: my clutch...finally out! pics are here.
Considering how much labor is invloved in replacing the clutch, I would not skimp on it. Not worth doing it again in another 12k miles
Pay up for the ACT, or try SBRs clutch (made by Spec? Cant remember now). Make sure you cut the flywheel to the right step height, make sure your machinist knows how important this is on our cars.

This thread is *OLD* so I know I'm too late to help out 97GSTspyder, but for anyone else looking for ACT clutches, www.performancecenter.com is where I got the ACT2100 ($360 with shipping to Anchorage) for my non-turbo--they've got 2600's and clutches for turbos, too, for something like another $50-$75, I think--and www.dsmparts.com has clutches for turbos.
Reviews: performancecenter.com was very helpful and friendly, even calling ACT directly--while I was on the phone--to check stock since they were backordered on that clutch. However, shipping was a little slow (two weeks via FED EX!!!, and yes, ACT did have the parts in stock for my clutch). When I called to check for the order status, they were still helpful and friendly, even though they already had my money. All in all, I'm reasonably happy with them, |
