Whats the cheapest i could get a nitro car for?

$300USD. Like I've said a million times, get an electric to start with. Nitro's are the same except they are a noisey pain in the ass.

ok then i'll just get a kick ass electric car. lol can u get a longer lasting battery then a stock one? mine is 600mAh and it runs out in about 20 mins?!

20 Mins is the normal span of a battery. Get a speed charger. I charge one while I race one, when the one batt dies, the other one is charged.

It depends on your set up. It changes with different size batts, ESC, motor and so on and so forth.

I think races are usually only 5 min.

Can I ask you whats so bad about nitros as first cars and in general? Have you ever owned an nitro? You don't have to wait on batteries charging or the amount hop ups cost on them. I mean like look at the chargers... They have ones going for more than $500 just to charge some batteries that can cost over $100 (especially lipo's) and it still takes over 30min minimum to charge. Then you need to buy you esc which can cost as much as a nice nitro engine. Then motors. While some motors are cheap like $10 they have other brushed motors that are like $50 and up just meant for racing and like 5 runs.. Then you need your lathe to cut the coms... then you need to trim your brushes and adjust the timing and solder everything together... Then with burshless you don't need to do all of that but most starter kits cost over $200!! With the amount of money spent on a full on racing electric, I could buy myself a nice nitro 1/8th scale buggy or serpent car. With nitros, all you have to do is put the fuel lines on, tune the carb, add nitro, start the engine and your off... The only bad thing about nitro to me is if you have neighbors that like quiet you would need to find a different place to drive, tunning the carb (with most engines you don't have to do this often), you need a fail safe, and the cost of nitro adding up. I think the most expensive hop up on a nitro that dosn't also refer to electrics are starter boxes (which you don't always need for some engines) and engines. Why do you not let him get nitros? just because you don't like it? Let him live and learn, if he dosn't like then then he can sell it and an electric.

Oh and answering your first question, you can get used nitros for as low as $50 for a used one on ebay needing some work and the price can go up to over $800 fully racing versions that still need an engine.

Yes I have owned a nitro, a couple actually. During that time I spent well over $1000, forever doing maintainence and clean up, and got written two tickets for noise pollution.

I can build a good RC for less than $300, with a speed charger, good motor, and good batts. Plus, you dont need to do near as muich maintainence.

Trust me, I know what Im talking about. I was racing R/C's while you were in diapers.
