Jet surges on acceleration
Hello all, I'm hoping someone can help me with my issue. I have a 94 Jetta GLX Wolfburg edition automatic VR6 car with 197,xxx miles on it. I am having problems with it intermittently spudering or surging when I put my foot into the gas pedal. I usually have to work the gas pedal to get any rpm's out of it. Things that have been done recently to try to resolve this issue. 1. all vacuum lines in the engine bay were replaced. 2. the igintion coil pack and wires were replaced. 3. the intake tube from the air filter to the manifold was replaced. All of these have improved overall driveability but the nagging problem still shows it's ugly head from time to time. Things that I have noticed lately that may or maynot have anything to do with this problem. Every morning when I put the trans in reverse it takes a few seconds for it to go into reverse, if I come to a hard stop within the first 10 minutes of driving the car the transmission with not shift into first to take off again, it just sits there reving then it eventually engages. Also I have noticed when the engine is acting up "surging" the perfound smell of burnt oil is coming from the engine compartment, I lose about a half a quart every 3000 miles. in addition when the problem is happening if I'm at a 1/4 of a tank of gas and the car goes on a hard bend to the right like on an expressway curve I get the engine to spudder really bad but recovers when I level out again. Lastly, when I come to a place to park I've noticed a loud buzzing noise coming from the right rear side of the car, is this where the fuel pump/solenoid is and could this also be a problem, it runs even when the engine ignition is off for a minute or two then quits. I took the car into the dealership in april 2004 for the check engine light coming on and the car running poorly bogging down in the rain only! at 65mph. They seem to have fixed the intermittent check engine lite but I now have a surging engine issue that I can't shake? Is there help for my car?
