Maybe it's a dumb question, but does anyone know what the difference is between a Silverado with a Z71 decal on the box and a Silverado with a Z71 OFFROAD decal? Any difference in suspension or other equip.? Just curious.

Re: Z71 vs Z71 offroad
The only difference is the decal, and possibly model year? You can buy Z71 decals and stick them on a Corolla, if you want!

Re: Z71 vs Z71 offroad
There is NO difference. they started using those decals in either 00, or 01. My 99 just has Z71 on it.

OK here's another question: Whats the difference between Z71 and 4x4 tags? I understand it has something to do with the suspension but what specifically? |

Re: Z71 vs Z71 offroad
The Z71 has a better pair of shocks, skid plates, locker, foglamps, fender flares, and all of the LS trim. Personally I think you're better off getting a plain 4x4.. you can get all that stuff on it for less $$ without the fancy trim crap! I have a 4x4 w/ skid plates, locker, fender flares, and I sure didn't pay 30k for any Z71..

Locker???? As in rear differential? Is this a part of the Z71 package?

Re: Z71 vs Z71 offroad
Yeppers, it sure is. Its a GM Gov-Lok. It's really a limited-slip unit, but works pretty good under most conditions. I have had a few times that it locked when I was accelerating hard and wouldnt unlock when I turned.
