Unhappy '93 Golf Mk3 GTi onboard computer problem

Can anyone help, I've got a problem with my onboard computer, All of the previous records are reset, this includes my time, distance travelled, oil temperature & weather temp. This also resets my service indicator.
This happens whenever I start my car.

I've already checked the fuses & everything seems to be in order....any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: '93 Golf Mk3 GTi onboard computer problem

Is it happening when you restart or when you turn off the ignition? Turn the key back to on & see if it's reset. If so the power back-up is probably bad, unfortunately I'm not sure where the power feed is from. It should be through a fuse, possibly hidden in a seperate holder above the main fuses, near the relays.

It resets whenever I start it, the best way for me to describe it would be to say, everything resets once "extra" power is needed to turn the starter....

I'd suspect the ignition switch (electrical part).
