01 Tahoe Stereo question

So we bought a 01 Tahoe and not too long afterwards, the rear-door speakers quit working. A local stereo place determined it was a bad amp under the driver's seat, which powers the speakers in the door, as well as the small speakers in the headliner in the back.
My question is: where is this amp? I looked under the seat and can see that the Airbag controller is under the carpet, but for the life of me, can't find this amp. Is is actually IN the driver's seat?
Just thought I'd check here before I pay an "idiot fee" to the stereo place for not being able to find/replace it.

Thanks -

Re: 01 Tahoe Stereo question

If it is the stock audio system, I'm 99% sure there is no second amp for the rear and back seat speakers. My Haynes manual doesn't show one either. GM audio systems are typically all driven by the unit in the dash.

You're right about the amp behind the dash. The stereo shop was incorrect about a 2nd amp - there isn't one. Fixed the amp and all is well.

Thanks !
