Is this a good deal?

Alrite, i have an 01 GT Spyder. My friend has a box with 2 12" Kicker comp Vrs and is selling them for $200. I rode with him most of the time and he did not abuse them and only had them for about 2 months in his car. He bought seats and is looking to sell them for some money. He is good with wiring speakers and such. He said he will do the install with me.

I assume this will fit in my tiny spyder trunk, but will it rattle the hell out of my convertable top? I also heard that our rearview mirror is on a ball bearing and can come loose and that it is hard to replace the mirror because not to many mirrors have the lights in the bottom.

I hear these are good speakers and i've also heard them thump. I just want to make sure, but are these good speakers?
Thanks

Re: Is this a good deal?

i dont think Kicker would make POS. they are a very good brand. they used to be one of the top of the line. i guess they still are. i dont keep up with speaker companies much anymore

Re: Is this a good deal?

You cannot go wrong with those suckers. Either he is a really good friend or he blew the speakers (they will still thump if blown, just not as good)
Back to the subject--Kicker competitons are easily $200 a piece even used. My brother had some Kicker comps. back around 1996 and you could hear him coming down the road a couple of miles away, and when you sat inside, you could not even hardly see straight when they were bumpin'. Kicker is right up there with JL Audio and Rockford Fosgate, just make sure you get a good name brand amp to go along with them (no flea market specials!)

Re: Is this a good deal?

Yeah dude, kicker makes some good stuff. It is not unusual to find them for around 200 for 2 12's i've seen that brand before. The thing about the mirror is true tho. I've got 2 MAaudio 12's they are about a year or so old and the beat the shit out of the car. My mirror will stay sorta in one spot but if you turn it on you'll watch it drop to face the floor. Good Luck tho dude you cant go wrong with a good system, question though>what kinda amp you hooking these to?
