2003 Denali XL - Where the h#$l are the....
I have a 2003 Denali xl and the previous owner installed an aftermarket radio and amp. I hate that the steering wheel and rear console do not work. Also, the onstar no longer works either. I would like to install a oem navi unit and I have heard it requires the factory bose amp, etc. Is this true? Also, can someone tell me where the following items are located so I can check if they still exist in this vehicle:
1) the factory bose amp? 2) the factory subwoofer? The previous owner replaced the head unit and added an amp. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Also, is there any system diagrams or info regarding wiring etc. I am not able to find anything out there. Thanks! |

Your amp is probably under the passanger or driver seat.
The sub is in the back cargo area on the drivers side, behind the plastic trim piece under the rear side window. you can see the vent holes for it. |

The amp is under the console.
If the amp is disconnected or reconnected without following the proper service procedure, it will be damaged beyond use.

Thanks for the info....is there a specific procedure I should follow to make sure I dont blow the amp?
Also, several posts have stated that the sub on 2003 is located in the driver side rear panel...others have stated under the front console...and yet a few have stated that it is in the Passenger side rear panel. Is GM changing the location based on the options in the vehicle? |

I think the sub location changed for '03+ across the board, or at least it changed for those '03+ with the lux Bose audio option.

The truck apparently had a the 6 speaker Acoustimax Bose with 6 disc changer....but GM parts said that it does not come with a Subwoofer....or ate least they couldnt find it on there diagram.
I cant believe that there is no sub standard with the vehicle. They did confirm that the amp is under the rear portion of the center console. |

Hi,
my 01 service manual does mention all 3 locations for the subwoofer. Yes, you do have a subwoofer. I have an 01 YXL, so I don't know the details for an 03 Denali. There is a link to a lady on another forum who has done nav unit work. Please look at this thread, the link to her is in there. her thread is worth reading, it is long and lists part numbers. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...59#post2624159 Be careful about versions of things, as you have the new databus that started in 2003. I remember that you need the luxury version of the bose amp, not the regular one. Take care, Eggert
