WRX Motor Swap?

I was just day dreaming about swappig an '04 WRX turbo motor (EJ22T) into an Outback. Anybody know if it's doable or if it's already been done? -- Matt

Re: WRX Motor Swap?

The WRX motor is a EJ20

Yes, its been done before. Visit the Legacy section at Nasioc.com

The mechanical part isnt that hard, its the Wiring thats a pain in the ass. You have to meld the legacy wiring into the WRX wiring. Im sure youll go completly mad unless youve done somethign like that. I beleive there is a company you can pay to make you one though. Again, do a search over at Nasioc

Re: WRX Motor Swap?

couldnt you just mod the 3.0 H6 thats in the outback already (assuming thats what the engine is) to be faster than the outback w/ the WRX engine?

Yes, you probably could, but that would cost a lot of money, you wouldnt get the same reliability, and the engine just isnt build for a turbo.

With a WRX, the engines all set up, its proven, but it would still cost you a few thousand dollars.
