fuel injector fuse blown
Help, son's 1996 escort keeps blowing fuel injector fuse. Starts up with new one installed but seems to blow when he puts it in reverse. Any help would be great!

Re: fuel injector fuse blown
Check the back up light switch and wires that are on the side of the transmission for a short.

Re: fuel injector fuse blown
It's auto tranny. I thought about that wiring but didn't think they would be fused in same circuit.Stranger things happen though..?

Re: fuel injector fuse blown
It's possible a cross short between the two circuits exists. I do not see a common circuit between the two.
The Gear Shift Neutral Switch activates the back-up lamp switch in 'R' (reverse). Are the back-up lamps working? I would make sure the two symptoms are related by removing the fuse (the one that keeps blowing) and connect a test light or voltmeter in it's place to the fuse terminals. Wiggle the wiring around (side to side) while watching the test light. If the bulb lights or you get a reading on the meter, there is a short to ground in that area. You can also shift into reverse and see if the test light comes on. Alvin |
