I have a 97 Grand Marquis LS that has the stock cassette player radio in it, I want to put a cd player into it yet don't want to go buy one and have a big blank with a small radio put into it (like the kits best buy will do) I just think it looks weird big faceplate small stereo front.
I was thinking of just buying a replacement radio off ebay or used that has a cd player in it for this year car (saw a few on ebay) etc, but wondered is this a simple install? I don't need or want the rear cd changer, my radio/car was not even equiped with that trunk wiring nor does the radio have the CD button (like some LS's do), so I am 99% sure my only options are a trunk mount aftermarket FM transmitter type unit with a wired remote up front or to replace the stock radio with a stock radio that has a cd player in it.
Is the wiring that came with my car for the Mercury stock cassette radio the same wiring (and or harness) for a stock Mercury CD radio for this vehicle?
In other words can I just pull the cassette player and pop in a stock CD player (that is made for this vehicle) without any wire or harness modifications?
Thanks for any help on this answer, I hope its plug and play regardless of cassette or cd player...
