Does having a civic lx 99 suck or can i do stuff with it?

Hi everyone first message ever posting. Wanted a few opinions on what i can do to my car to increase performance on a street level and have a modest tone to it (not LOAD or ricey).

Also looking to increase miles per gallon if possible. I already put in a ram intake and a no name brand stainless steal header which was a huge hassle to put on since the old manifold contained the cat. Also would like to lknow what would be the best exhaust piping and if all headers have a 2 and a quarter diameter?

Sorry for all the questions, just had all these questions and cant find answers. I'll appreciate any input.
