Unhappy mysterious liquid on the driveway..

the other day after leaving my car sit for two days i finally drove my 00 escort to work. when i got home i noticed right where the car was sitting that there was a puddle of something. i have NO idea what this is, its a white/dirty color. its thick almost like mud it has little specs of something of a darker color like black...As im from ohio i thought maybe its the car erroding and being ate away by the salt from the winter. but i dont think it would look like that. anyone have a clue?

Re: mysterious liquid on the driveway..

It could be condensate from the A/C (which works with the defrosters) mixing with roadgrime from the underside of the car.

I suppose it could be coolant mixed with oil with some dirt in it... have you noticed any change in the cars performance or anything lately?

No i havent noticed any difference in the performance, but however, i did just get the car recently. it seems to run just fine its stick so its not acting really slow or anything, i wonder if i wash the underside of the car if it will go away?

White, thick and dirty with dark specks, make sure you check your cv joint shaft boots and make sure they are not torn, the stuff they pack them with is sometimes that color. if that is not the case then you made an inspection of them anyway, which you need to do from time to time.

Re: mysterious liquid on the driveway..

I'm with you, jdr. Sounds exactly like axle grease that has gotten some water in it caused by torn CV boot.
