Re: which one is better to tune

the question has no definite answer, i'm pretty sure alot of people here will tell u to go with the gti. it all depends which si if it is the new one get the gti if u mean the 99-00 coupe i would say get whatever u want. what r u looking for ballsz out speed or handling? it also depends on the driver as well as the tuner. I'm partial to the gti turbo because i own one but i have seen some fast hondas.

The GTI is nicer inside and out. You can't beat VW quality (minus a few electrical gremlins). Germans know how to build cars, hands down. The Si is all plastic and not to mention ugly. It looks like a midget mini van to me. Not only is the GTI faster to begin with, but a simple $500 APR or Revo chip will give you power that you'd need a $3000 turbo kit to get with the Honda. Stock the Honda may have some better handling qualities as the Mk4 GTI is known for its focus on luxury vs performance thus a softer suspension (not to mention its heavier). But c'mon, don't even kid, the decision is easy! The GTI will be much better overall in the long run especially if you're going to be doing some serious mods. Personally, I'm waiting for the Mk5 GTI.

Check out www.eiptuning.com to see just how much potential the GTI and R32 have! Just recently I read of a 450hp VR6 GTI that was built by that Canadian VW tuner (name please?) for Motor Trend and then auctioned on Ebay. That thing was crazy! It even had the 4wd off an A4.

Re: which one is better to tune

i was hoping no one would reply to this post...

comparing a gti and a civic??? haha jp

if i were you, i'd get the si just cuz you dared to ask

besides ive heard of 600whp civics, thats insane. gti's cant go above 350 or so with the stock turbo, and mkIV's are hella heavy.

if your gonna buy car's just cuz they're "fast" or what not, then buy the civic
