Hi,
Is there a way to bypass or disable the Electronic Traction Control on a '99 Grand Am GT. I'm asking this because I really find it annoying when I get stuck in snow/ice and can't get out because the ETC kills the power of the engine as soon as the wheels starts spining. Also, do you know if by doing so this would have negative effects on other component such as the EBS. Thank you, |

Re: '99 Grand AM GT, ETC and Low Traction Light
Not sure on the '99, but my daughters 97 has a switch to turn off TC when neccessary. I believe it is on the shifter

Thank you. Unfortunately it is a used car we purchased and it didn't come with a owners manual so we are kind of guessing where things are. It's also an automatic but I will look further to see if there isn't a switch somewhere that could turn off this option. Wishing you a happy new year!. |

Re: '99 Grand AM GT, ETC and Low Traction Light
You should be able to press it once without holding it, and the light on the dash indicating that ETC is off should light.
