Question Engine Light

A week or so ago my "check engine soon" light came on after filling up with gas. I read the manual but didn't really find any information other that it could be an exhaust problem. The light is solid, not blinking. I checked my gas cap and it had not been put on and was loose. I put it back on tightly, but the light will not go off. Is there a way to reset it like the "change oil light"? There doesn't seem to be any problems and the car is running fine.

Re: Engine Light

If the gas cap was truly the problem then it should clear itself after a few restarts. If the light doesn't go off after a week or so take it to Autozone and have them scan the computer for you. If there is a code stored in the computer that is related they can clear it for you. If it is not related to the gas cap then you will need to have it looked at by a mechanic.
