Re: Other purchases with new WRX

get an exhaust system. just keep your car stock for a while until you save up abit of money. The 3inch exhaust will cost you around ???? i'm not to sure how much it costs there but down here it costs around $1,200. My friend chucked on a 3inch exhaust and you could hear the turbo spool good. Plus it will help you turn up the boost alittle bit since you work put alittle more money on the side about 500 and you'll have enough to buy a decent or very good BOV

Re: Other purchases with new WRX

Not necessarily a *loud* exhaust. Borla Hush, for instance, or something just a little more open.

Re: Other purchases with new WRX

For your information A CAI on a turbo car is pretty useless... And a WRX runs 13.6 PSI stock but it can run 15 safely without any real modification... My friend has a WRX with just a UP and a DP stock exhaust all the way back and boosting 18PSI with no problems at all... Just some info...

18lb with just an UP and DP?? That is a significant increase, I fear for the internals.

HKS carbon TI sounds awesome on the wrx's. Makes it sound like a race car. Could also go with a QTP cutout. These are always awesome and they boost hp a lot.

Re: Other purchases with new WRX

awesome, Instead of spending money on another BOV, im stoked to hear that the stock one is just fine. That and hearing the spool a lot louder is also a plus for me. Im still waiting on my WRX. Mom says it would be a nice graduation present (may/05). Maybe i can talk her into an STi, insurance prices would scare her though. I posted another post about insurance, its in the forum somewhere. Happy New year.

Re: Other purchases with new WRX

STi is not a good idea for a new driver. I'd go with a WRX till youre fully comfortable.

Re: Other purchases with new WRX

True, the WRX is a much better choice for a new driver. The turbo lag is actually a good thing when it comes to that, it means you can be driving a normal sedan.

As with BOVs being rice, I agree it's mostly just for the sound unless you've got some serious power going on, but remember to actually be able to get a BOV, you need a turbocharger...so in a way, it's to draw attention to the turbo...it's kinda similar to how 10sec 1/4mile times draw attention to the turbo. What I'm trying to say is, most people here are etremely proud that their car is turboed, a BOV is just showing off that pride.
