I have three cars,a 1995 Olds,1997 Olds and a 2000 GM w/4.6 v8
The GM takes a lot more time to heat up during the winter. The car has 22000 miles and is garage kept, the dealer has recently changed the thermistat and it hasn't changed anything. My wife tells me that it has done this since new, both v6 Olds heat up a lot faster than the GM,is this a normal thing with this engine? You have to travel 2-3 miles before the temp gage starts to show and when warmed throws good heat. |

Re: Heat up time
Don't forget that a V8 has more water to warm up than a V6, so it will take a bit longer. My MGM would take a good 10 minutes to get warm, while our 4cyl Jeep takes lonly 3-4 and our V6 takes about 6-7

Re: Heat up time
Well that makes more sense than anything else since the warmup times are the same on all vehicles,Thank's to all.
