WRX gets spanked by two Alfa Romeos

I was driving from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, about a 4 hour drive away. I was with a friend in an identical car, the Alfa Romeo 147 GTA, but mine's red and his is silver.

Half way there, as we were cruising at a nice 150 km/h (90mph) this brand new WRX comes up dangerously close to my ass. He was SOOO close I couldn't even see all of his hood. Bear in mind this is a 225hp WRX with the dual exhaust.

So that pissed me off. He was so close that even if I wanted to downshift from 6th to 5th or 4th he would have hit me while my clutch was in. The only thing I could do was floor it or just slowly let off the accelerator.

So I slowly let off the gas. The whole time, my friend was in his car behind us both, yelling over the walkie-talkie about how dangerous this idiot was. We slowed down to about 50 mph and he attempted to pass. Pissed as I was I had to show this dumbass who was boss.

I put it in 3rd and accelerated, watching his feeble attempt to get past, and of course failing. We went up to about 80-90 and he couldn't pass. I guess his small engine and turbo couldn't hang at those speeds.

By then, my friend had gone in front. The same passing attempent stupidly ensued and the weak WRX couldn't make it. So what do you do if you can't pass someone? You try to wreck them!

He swerved into my friend at about 100mph, coming INCHES from his passenger side door, and nearly pushing him into the guardrail. I was behind. If he would have hit, we all could have died, and our passengers.

I told my friend this guy was too stupid to be near and we hesitantly pulled over at a rest stop and let the idiot go.

Then, six days later, out of sheer chance, I SAW this guy, near my house. He was parking his car. I stopped and said, "You're a bad driver. It's ok to race but just don't put people's lives at risk."

He was defiant but admitted my car is faster (which was painfully obvious). I think that was an attempt to avert a physical confrontation. I didn't want things to escalate either, mainly because I was in my car and I thought he'd scratch it or something.

Anyway that's all. Race safely!

What a freaking Douche. Regardless, I would have knocked him flat out. Risking other's lives is got to be the most godforsaken thing anyone could do. Either way, your car sounds damn fast to keep down a WRX. Glad everyone's alright. Smart move to pull over. Still, you shoulda hit him once you saw him. Late...

I think that by street racing, you KNOW the dangers you put yourself through. So if anything bad happened, not to sound like an asshole, but you have it coming.

street racing is dangerous, but purposely trying to cause a wreck is stupid.

BTW, when I was in Europe, i got an issue of CAR magazine, and they had an article on the Alfa 147. Pretty badass.

You are right. I just didn't EXPECT to have a guy I beat TRY to wreck me. But in the end, I wouldn't be able to say shit if he did.
