What kind of dirt bike, Have no clue

hi I was wondering what kind of dirt bike I should get. I have a 1977mx 175 yamaha, but it wont make it up half the hills i want to go up (I've tried haha). I want to get a newer 250cc model but I am not sure if that will even make it up the hills. I would get a 500 but i am pretty small so i dont think i could handle it. I am 5'10", 135 lbs. what should i do. thanx

a 250 with a 135 lb rider will make it up any hill you want even a newer 125 will probly take you up any hill as long as you know how to ride it

Yeah well there is no way in hell you can make it up these hills in first the whole time you have to have a lot of momentum or else your tires will just spin because these dirt hills are really sloppy, but you can make it up some hills if you go up in third and down shift once or twice. Also I am pretty sure a 125cc blike wouldnt make it up because my friend that has been riding all his life couldn't make it up with his 380cc a couple of times.

Re: What kind of dirt bike, Have no clue

no offence but its not the bike that cant make it up the hill, its the rider. my 02rm 125 can make it up any hill a 250 can i just need a little more speed. there is a hill i just cant do cause of all the sand, ive tryed a bunch of times. i went there with a friend he has the same bike he did it first try ( he know how to ride alot better than me).

Re: What kind of dirt bike, Have no clue

Yes, a lot does have to do with the rider, including weight. Someone who weighs only like 150 or lighter probably can make it up a lot of things on a 125.

However, I ride in the dunes a lot and there are quite a few hills that are extremely steep and very long. No one I know has ever made it up them on a 125. Me and some friends have made it on extremely "modified" 250's (engine's are bored/stroked, etc though). And, I have made it on stock 500's as well...couldn't on a stock 125 or 250 though...

i have seen multiple hills that no 125 can make up and i can do just fine in my little 500

ive hit them on many a bike and it seems the only ones that can do it are the modded 250's the 4 stroke 450's and the 500

Re: What kind of dirt bike, Have no clue

and to answere the original question..... get a newer 125 or a 250 if you like the 2 strokes, the hondas are great all around bikes and the yamahas have all the power.

get a nice 250 4 stroke or even a 450 those are alot of fun, if your up for a little challange. all the hondas are great
