I've read several times that the magnet along with the "tornado" do not work. fiberglass hoods are the most common things put on. Could get a cowl one to let heat out better. If you don't use it, the AC could be removed to save weight. what kind of milage are you getting now? |

i was thinking about a fiberglass hood and did some research on the specifics like metal bolt holders and support struts and all that. as a bonus the car is white and most fiberglass hoods sold are white, so painting is not an issue except i would like the shine to stay so i'll think about that some more. so far as the magnet thing goes i did a bunch of research and found an epa report debunking it so bygones. as for current mileage i dont know exact numbers, i forget to make a tally each time i fill up, but i fill up w/ about 8-11 gallons a week in a 12 gallon tank. i figure w/ the amt i drive i am getting close the the factory settings. i will post the current mileage numbers soon. |

Re: How do I increase Fuel Economy
sorry about reviving an old thread, but i have done some more research and clarified my objectives.
i want more life from the car and as an added bonus more mileage, i'd like to keep the car until at least 2007. i calculated the mileage to 22 highway, 19.5 city, i figure i can probably get about 6-8 miles if i replace the cat--emissions test point to the stock cat dying--getting better headers, back cat system (basically the exhaust system) and a better air intake a question about the air intake, i noticed that there is a cold air intake avail for the later model ponies any idea if i can alter it for use on my 88 lx 2.6 or even better if there is one avail for my car. also given that the car is 16 yrs old i am starting to feel bumps in the rd, i like the steeda 3 tier suspension upgrade/fix kit, any input on those or similar products would be appreciated |
