2000 Tahoe Abs Light & Servive 4x4 light

On my 2000 Tahoe, 80k, my ABS light along with the E-brake light will come on at random times and not turn off until the truck is truned off.
I've read some past forums, and it seems like most agree that it is a faulty wheel speed sensor.

Is there any further developments on that diagnosis? Also, since so many Tahoe owners have this problem, will they ever be recalled?

My other problem is my service 4x4 light will come on at random times also and stay on until I turn off the truck. I have only used the 4x4 5 or 6 times. someone told me that if i drive it around in 4x4 every now and then it will cure it.

Any ideas

Thanks,
Kirk

Why is it that anytime people have a problem with their vehicle they want a recall?

As far as your ABS light goes, you will need to have the code pulled to find out what the fault is. This is the part that most people want to skip over....to properly repair a vehicle, you have to perform some diagnostics to find the fault..there are approximately 30 DTCs related to the ABS system...so you have a 1 in 30 chance of fixing the problem if you guess and replace a WSS.

Next on to the 4wd light..same thing here..need a code to properly diagnose the problem.
There is a GM TSB for an intermittant fault with the switch and most of the times replacing the switch will fix the problem..but only if the DTC B2725 is present

Re: 2000 Tahoe Abs Light & Servive 4x4 light

Probably because when they pay upwards of $40,000 dollars for a car they expect it to work right. Just kidding. I just thought I had heard so many people complain about Tahoe brakes a recall might be in the works.
Anyway thanks for the reply. I guess i'll have to get my hands on a scantool soon. I let you know how it goes.

Thanks again,
Kirk

Re: 2000 Tahoe Abs Light & Servive 4x4 light

had the same problem on a 2000 z71....service 4x4 light would come on....when it did i would get a slight vibration above 70mph......dealer replaced the 4x4 switch....fixed the light and vibration.....appearantly it was trying to engage 4x4 on its own......now i have a 2wd tahoe...like it a lot better
