yea i dont own a max and i probably wont.but my moms looking into these or an accord and im tring to see which is better.do any max's in those years come in manual?or all autos?how fast are they?fwd right?good in the snow and rain?just tell me some basic things about them cuz i dunno wat all to ask shes just looking for cars under 16k and im seeing maxima's in that range.thanks

All of those years come in both manuals and autos. Maximas are faster, handle better, and look better than accords, except for the '04s. They are fwd, and you can expect a bit of torque steer with the 2k2+ models. Built very well, but not quite to the quality standards of an Accord.

2000-2001 = 6.7 0-60, low 15's in the 1/4

2002-2003 = 6.0 0-60, mid 14's in the 1/4

2004 = 6.3 0-60, mid to high 14's in the 1/4

EDIT: The times listed are for 5/6 speeds, you can expect slower times, obviosuly, with an auto.

ok thanks u gave me alot of info that i needed.finding the maxima's in manuals i think is rare i have never seen one only auto.is there a place to search for just 5/6speed max's?i think 02 is what she will look into.how is the ride quality?like i know it doesnt have a race suspenion but is it softer then the accords or harder?and which is the top of the line model?gxe,gle,4dr i dont know what they stand for or else i would know.thanks again

The '02 would be your best bet...first year they started putting the VQ35 in the maximas, and it is also the fastest maxima made, because the '04 and '05 are goddamned land yachts. You can pick up a well-equipped reasonable mileage '02 SE 6 speed for between 11-14 grand, depending on the dealer.

Yep, '02 or '03 6sp is the way to go. They definitely have a firmer ride than accords, but they handle better, so that's what you can expect. The top of the line model is the GLE, but anything you get on a GLE you can get on an SE, except the SE has the stiffer suspension and optional 6 sp, and better looking wheels. GXE is the stripper base model, you don't really want one of those.

ok guys thanks i found an 02 6speed last night on autotrader but its in ohio and im not lol its like 31k and cost 14k thats not a bad deal right?also wats the difference in se and gle?just tranny and suspenion?like one doesnt have leather and the other doesnt?or sunroof?also my moms getting fond of the 00-01 audi S4's.any of u guys ever riden in those?is one nicer?faster?thanks again angd again lol

Se's have a sportier stiffer suspension and can be gotten in 6 speed manual. the gle's are the luxury versions they're suspension is softer and they can only be had in automatic. Sunroof/Moonroof's are optional on all models

S4's are awesome and make lots of power but they're heavy as shit. it really depends on what your mom's looking for.

haha heavy as shit?i dont thinkg 3300lbs is that heavy my vr4 weights 3800minus me and gas lol.but were tring to look for a 02 max SE 6speed loaded with everything near us.the s4's i love them but its hard to find one under 16k.but which ever she gets its getting modded.is there any good sites to help mod an 02-03 maxima?wats the first best mods up till FI?

That is a very respectable price, yes, especially with those low miles.

A good site, maybe the best is www.maxima.org. Tons of info there in the forums, it trumps the amount that is here be leaps and bounds. You can get a butt load of power out of the 3.5VQ with minimal mods (exhaust system, intake, LSD, flywheel) your pushing 30+hp to the wheels mostlikely, for about $1200-$1900 total.

S4 Specifications this actually has the S4 listed at about 3600 lbs on a 2002. with a power to weight ratio of 14.4 lbs per hp compared to the maxima's 12.6 lbs per hp i'll bet the max would take an S4 from a roll.


as far as modding the maxima check out Custom Maxima with headers, downpipe, and a cat-back you can squeeze an extra 30 hp or so out of the car. there's nismo cam's said to be good for around 15-20 hp, Technosquare will reprpogram the ECU for pretty significant gains. 300+ whp isn't too far off in a 3.5 maxima.

well u will have dicks everywhere else.ill just give them a taste of a bov they will shut up lol.but just for a test driving update we went and test drive a 03 max gle and damn it moves for a 4dr lol.i got to take it from a light back to the dealership and i hit up to about 80 max they guy was all paranoid.but i just told him if were serious about dropping serious coin on this we would have to test it like how we drive daily.lol such bs but he bought it but all over review its a very nice car i would even consider buying one.but is there any FI for the 02-03's? they need a better top end i think
