coilover dampening adjustability range

So i'm going to japan for 2 weeks to visit family for new years (and go to TAS!!). Plannnig on picking up coilover kits if I can find good ones (hopefully used), and wanted your opinion. I know it's cool to have like 16 or 32 damping force settings, but do you all really use/need that many?
I take it to the track (road course like Infinion and Thunderhill not 1/4 mile) once in a while and try drifting around in parking lots, so is like a 4 way setting enough of should I spend the extra yen on ones whose dampening force are more adjustable?
I was looking at kei-office TD's which aren't dampening adjustable, the GU's i think have 4 settings vs the xt's which have 16. I was also looking at Nismo and JIC.

What's eveyone's experience w/damper settings?

I think there are more important things to look at than how many clicks there are on the damper. For me I wouldnt hold it against an otherwise great damper if it only had 8 settings. since you actually run at a track I bet you'll be able to feel more minute adjustments so I bet 16 would work fine.

Look For
-Inverted Front Struts: Less Sprung weight / Last longer
-Independant height Adjustment: for Cornerweighting / slammed with good stroke
-Sturdy Collars: dont want the coil perches stripping
-Sturdy Camber Plates / Top Mounts: better yet... Sturdy Overall.
-Reputation: look and see what most of the drivers are using.

My Favs for under 2k are the Buddy Club P1s, Silk Road RMA-08s, and Kei Office XRs (lots of D1 drivers use Keis) My shit list Includes TEIN, JIC, and GP Sports.
