98' almost stalls in cold weather

98' gle auto, runs perfect in warm temps, below 0 deg cel rpm at idle is 400, accelerate to 50 kph release the pedal and rpm drops to almost 0 and then pops up to 900 to slowly drop back down to 400 to 500 rpm. what could be the problem? car is mint with 135,000 klm.
