jeep idles fine then idles way down help
tomy jeep has been running fine today i added antifrezze to the rad after i did the engine would idle fine gage read charging then it would idle way down gage read not chargeing it neddle droped real low lights dim way down then it idle back to normal it does this back in forth help tell what it could be did i get something wet or is it something else i would be very thankful for any help

Ok
#1 first of all learn to spell #2 learn punctuation #3 learn to form complete sentences #4 proof read before you post Now that thats out of the way, try checking the battery because it sounds like its not holding a charge and when the idle drops, your alternator is not producing enough power to keep the electrical systems running correctly. It could also be a loose ground that is causing a drain on your electrical system.

I don't think the problem is electrical. You have described the classic 'lean surge'. The engine revs just drop so low that the alternator cannot keep up with the electrical drain from the lights. But the lean surge is a completely seperate problem.
I cannot help you further until you tell us the make, model, engine size, and if it's EFI or carb. |
