Biggest army in the world can't be successful without an air force, as proved in Desert Storm. The US bombed the Iraqi army for quite awhile before they went in.

And the M-1's defeated the T-72's in a night battle if I recall correctly; the US does have superiority at night due to technology.

Actually, Iraq had a very nice air force at the time of Desert Storm. Like I said, they had the latest Soviet technology and they had many, many MIGs. As you know, MIGs were one of the greatest fighter jets of the time.
The U.S. had their F-15 though which was just as good, better, and had just all around better training for their pilots. Iraq had the tools and the numbers but their training was very, very poor.

Sorry, sort of glossed over that detail - US shot the hell out of Iraq's air force the first few days, then it was "all clear" for the bombings to commence. (and not mentioning SAM's, etc)
